Leafy Fall Gnome Hanging
↓ Jump to Patterns & MaterialsSeptember is the perfect month for a stash buster, and this leafy gnome used up yarn I already had on hand. Every bit of him came from my stash.
I was inspired when his cousin appeared on the cover of the Autumn 2026 edition of Crochet World magazine. That pattern was designed by Debra Arch, and I used the Libby app and my library card to get free access to it. Magazine patterns can be a bit challenging to follow because they abbreviate a lot, so I went looking for another option and found a similar gnome pattern from Stringy Ding Ding. I followed hers for all of the crochet.
Her pattern called for hot gluing everything together, and I really preferred to stitch it. I also really liked that Debra Arch's version used a piece of plastic mesh as a structured foundation. So I followed both: Stringy Ding Ding's pattern for the crochet and Debra Arch's for the assembly, stitching instead of gluing.
If you have a pile of leftover yarn, this is a great way to put it to work.
